” Medical Math – Get it Right Every Time “

Date : November 23rd 2009
Time: 1400 hours EST.

This session will target Medical Math, i.e. Drug Calculations. Special guest speaker Buck Feris is an EMS educator that has years of experience helping students who struggle with drug calculations. Several years ago he did some research on the origins of the drug calculation formula and found that it was based on a very simple concept in chemistry called “dimensional analysis.” By teaching the mechanics of dimensional analysis to students Buck has been able to teach them to go beyond the simple memorization of a formula. Some of they key elements of this session will be:

Helping to finally end the struggle with drug calculations

How knowing one simple concept will vastly improve your drug calculation skills

The true mechanics behind drug calculations

Discovering “dimensional analysis” and how it simplifies medical math

Modifying one easy formula that will fit all your medical math needs

Going beyond basic memorization to concrete understanding

If you are a student who is struggling with this subject, or a practicing paramedic who wishes to finally master medical math, this is a course you won’t want to miss.

Don’t let this uniquely focused session pass you by. Space is limited so sign up today.

This EMS Boot Camp session give you the tools and confidence you need to make drug calculations when seconds count.

” Diabetic Patients – What Your Instructor Left Out “

Date : November 11th 2009
Time: 1430 hours EST.

With a primary focus on identifying, treating and managing the diabetic patient in the field. “Diabetic Patients – What Your Instructor Left Out” is a birds eye view of what EMS providers can expect to see in the field setting and promises to present some eye opening tips and management techniques that will help you with this common EMS emergency. Some of they key elements of this session are:

Being able to quickly identify a diabetic emergency.

How treating the diabetic patient goes beyond simple Dextrose or Glucose administration.

Obtaining finger sticks the “right way”

Effectively dealing with the combative diabetic.

The chronic “brittle” diabetic. Treatment and lack of transport.

Discovering the primary triggers that negatively affect the diabetic patient.

High vs. Low. Is the finger stick the definitive answer?

Diabetes and Stroke. Find out the key signs and symptoms that will enable you to quickly diagnose the two and treat accordingly.

Case presentations to give you a real world view of what to expect in the field.

This fast paced EMS Boot Camp session will target the diabetic patient as seen in the field setting. We’re not going to focus on insulin production and all the physiological elements of the diabetic patient. Your instructor did a good job on that. This session will deliver content you can apply in the field right away.

Topic: Uncovering The Autonomic Nervous System, with guest speaker Buck Feris from the EMSEducast.com.

Tomorrow: Wed Oct 14th at 2:00 PM EST

Registration: http://emsbootcamp.com

Information about the session from Jim Hoffman: This is a very special session and will most likely go well over 90 minutes. You know, all the good stuff on nervous systems divisions, parasympathetic and sympathetic systems, cholinergic vs.anti-cholinergic and even the pharmacology of drugs and how they affect these systems. This content is all too often glossed over in medic school and then stressed over for the rest of your EMS training and career. We all know that every exam has questions on this subject. This is your opportunity to get in on this training that would normally run you well over forty five dollars at most EMS seminars or conventions. But you get it at EMS Boot Camp at no cost. Visit http://emsbootcamp.com and register today. By attending live you get the student handout. This alone is a great resource to refer to over and over again.

Don’t forget the live Q&A session during the webinar you won’t want to miss.

If you are reading this after the live session you can still view this outstanding training program by going to http://emsbootcamp.com and clicking on past sessions.
